About Us.

Since our group was formed, 3rd Rainham Scout Group has been committed to providing young children with fun activities that are both enjoyable and teach important life skills.

3rd Rainham Scout Group belongs to the District of Hornchurch, which in turn is part of the Greater London North East County (GLNE). The district is there to support and guide the leaders and to offer activities on a large scale to all Scout Groups.

The Scout movement is divided into 5 sections:

Beaver Scouts 6-8 years

Cub Scouts 8-10½ years

Scouts 10½-14 years

Explorer Scouts 14-18 years

Scout Network 18-25 years

Here at 3rd Rainham, we have a Beaver Colony, a Cub Pack, and a Scout Troop.

Julie, Beaver Leader

My Name is Julie Backhouse and I became 3rd Rainham's Beaver leader in January 2018 after spending a year helping the group. I hope to bring to the Beavers group, fun experiences and activities based around the Scouting Badge program. Our program is varied and consists of games, talks, crafts and activities. The aim of the group is for the young children to grow in confidence, learn and have experiences whilst having fun and making new friends.

My role is to plan with the help of other leaders and young leaders a safe, and varied weekly programme, both indoors and outdoors, catering for the needs and interests of the scouts and providing an opportunity for them try new things and enjoy themselves. It is a very rewarding role that is also fun. It is great to belong to a group that are friendly, helpful, polite and humorous. I am proud that we have such great young people and a brilliant team supporting the group.
